Greetings Leaders,
The future of warfare in DomiNations is ready for deployment! We’re introducing a brand new way to control your army in battle, new Automation Age upgrades, and two new attack-oriented Councilors. Read on to see what you can expect arriving in our update for next week!
Detachments
DomiNations Update 12.16 looks to revitalize combat as you know it with Detachments! This new system will have you creating groups of Troops and Generals that can be quickly deployed together with a single tap. You can create up to three detachments and precisely control your army while attacking an enemy base.

Detachment Editor
Organize groups of barracks troops, factory troops, and generals into up to three detachments using the new Detachment Editor. Each detachment may contain up to one Leader and three Supporting Units. Only a General may be assigned as a Leader, while Supporting Units may include barracks troops, factory troops, as well as other Generals.
Each Detachment has a maximum troop capacity, which is 40% of your army’s total troop capacity (rounded up). Troops may not be added to a detachment if doing so would exceed its troop capacity. However, you’ll run out of army troop capacity before you’re able to fill all three detachments–this is intentional. Generals in a detachment do not occupy any troop capacity. You can also choose to leave any space empty in a Detachment.

Deployment Restrictions
In battle, a detachment is deployed as a group. The leader is deployed first, if one exists, then the remaining units are deployed in order from left to right.
Detachments may not be deployed from Tactical Helicopters.
In your Troop Tray, the Troops and Generals that are part of a Detachment are highlighted with their corresponding letter and color. Troops and Generals that aren’t part of a Detachment are deployed the same way that you’re used to.

Rallying Detachments
A deployed detachment responds to both the Army Rally as well as its detachment-specific rally.
The detachment-specific rally can be used to directly control units in that detachment separately from the rest of your army. To use a specific Rally, first select it by tapping on the Detachment you wish to control either on the right side of the screen or in the Troop Tray. Then tap the target or destination you wish for that Detachment to rally to.
In the image above, Detachment A is highlighted on both the Troop Tray and the Rally icon on the right. This is to indicate that you’re currently controlling Detachment A, and the cooldown timer shows that you have recently activated its Rally.
Clearing Icons in Battle
You’ll also want to notice the new red markers on the Troop Tray! After a Troop has been wiped out during battle, tapping this will remove that Troop Button, and all other buttons with this icon, from your Troop Tray! This will reduce the scrolling required for quick strategies as the battle rages on.
Automation Age Upgrades: Storehouse & Shipyard
This update adds a new level to the Storehouse & Shipyard. The Level 15 Shipyard receives new expeditions and the introduction of new exclusive Troop Tactics only available here. Based on player feedback, we also took this opportunity to update the expedition rewards for Shipyard levels 13 and 14 with stronger Troop Tactics.

New Councilors
Update 12.16 will introduce two new Councilors. Unlike our previous addition, Ada Lovelace, these two will appear with identical bonuses for War and Peace.

Hatshepsut (Diplomat)
Hatshepsut, one of ancient Egypt's most extraordinary rulers, defied tradition by becoming king around 1479 BCE. Hatshepsut’s most enduring legacy lies in her ambitious building projects, including the Karnak Temple Complex, the Red Chapel, the Speos Artemidos, and especially her grand mortuary temple at Deir el-Bahari. She also revitalized trade and boosted Egypt's economy, most notably through a famous expedition to Punt. By focusing on internal stability and expanding Egypt’s reach through diplomacy and commerce, she fostered a flourishing and secure empire.
In DomiNations Hatshepsut will improve the effectiveness of Mortar and Heavy Infantry while reducing Enemy Wall Strength.

Charles Babbage (Scholar)
Born December 26th, 1791, Charles Babbage was an English mathematician, philosopher, inventor, and mechanical engineer who is credited with the original conception of a digital programmable computer. He invented the first mechanical computer, the Difference Engine, which led to his development of the Analytical Engine, a device that utilizes all the same fundamental principles that make up a modern-day computer.
Charles Babbage will help as a Councilor in DomiNations by reducing the strength of Enemy Towers and Anti Air Defenses.
